Sex Therapy

Sex Therapy

A Safe Place to Talk About What Has Been Hard to Talk About

Sexuality is one of God’s profound gifts — yet for many individuals and couples, it is also an area surrounded by silence, shame, disappointment, confusion, or pain.

You do not have to carry those concerns alone.

As a Certified Sex Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Ordained Minister, I provide specialized sex therapy that integrates clinical expertise with Christian faith when desired.

This is not clinical care with a prayer added at the end — nor is it spiritual advice that overlooks the emotional, relational, physical, and psychological complexity of sexuality.

It is thoughtful, evidence-informed, faith-sensitive care designed to help you move toward greater understanding, connection, and sexual wholeness.

Sex therapy is available through secure telehealth to eligible individuals and couples physically located in Georgia and Texas.

What Is Sex Therapy?

Sex therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy addressing sexual concerns, intimacy, relationships, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors.

It is talk therapy.

There is:

  • no nudity
  • no sexual touching
  • no physical examination
  • no sexual activity during sessions

Instead, we create a private, structured space to understand what is happening, identify contributing factors, and develop appropriate strategies for change.

When medical evaluation or another specialist is needed, I will recommend collaboration with the appropriate healthcare professional.

Sex Therapy May Help With

Couples

  • Sexual disconnection or loss of intimacy
  • Differences in sexual desire
  • Difficulty talking about sex
  • Pain or penetration concerns
  • Difficulty with arousal or orgasm

  • Rebuilding sexual trust after betrayal
  • Sexual intimacy after pregnancy, illness, aging, or major life transitions

Exploration of sexuality, faith, values, and identity is approached respectfully and without coercion or predetermined pressure to change your identity or orientation.

Faith and Clinical Care — Together

My approach integrates three important dimensions of sexual health.

Clinical Expertise

Treatment may draw from evidence-informed sex therapy, trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral approaches, sensate-focus principles, relationship science, and Gottman-informed couples work.

Christian Faith

For clients who desire it, therapy can thoughtfully explore biblical beliefs about the body, intimacy, sexuality, marriage, covenant, healing, and grace.

Faith integration is collaborative and based on your values and treatment goals.

The Whole Relationship

Sexual concerns rarely exist in isolation.

We may explore how communication, trust, emotional safety, stress, trauma, physical health, relational patterns, beliefs, and life transitions influence sexual connection.

When Shame Has Been Part of the Story

Many people wait years before talking to anyone about sexual concerns.

Sometimes the hardest step is simply making the first call.

You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or have the right words before beginning therapy.

My role is to provide a professional, nonjudgmental space where difficult concerns can be discussed with dignity, compassion, and clinical care.

Sexual struggles do not have to remain hidden.

What to Expect

1. Begin With a Clinical Intake

We start by understanding your concerns, history, relationship context, goals, and any factors that may be influencing your sexual wellbeing.

2. Develop a Treatment Plan

Together, we identify what we are working toward and determine the most appropriate clinical approach.

3. Build Skills and Address Contributing Factors

Depending on your goals, therapy may include education, communication exercises, cognitive or behavioral strategies, trauma-informed work, relationship interventions, and structured practices completed privately between sessions.

4. Evaluate Progress

We regularly assess what is changing and adjust treatment as needed.

The length of treatment varies according to the concerns being addressed, their complexity, and your individual or relationship needs.  Contact

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sex Therapy Appropriate for Christians?

Yes.

Seeking professional help for sexual concerns does not require abandoning your faith.

For clients who desire Christian integration, we can explore sexuality in a way that respects both sound clinical practice and your biblical values.

What if I Have Experienced Sexual Trauma?

Sexual trauma and childhood sexual abuse can significantly affect adult intimacy, safety, desire, and connection.

Trauma-informed treatment is one of my areas of specialization.

We proceed carefully and collaboratively, at a pace appropriate for your clinical needs.

Does My Spouse Have to Participate?

Not always.

Some concerns are best addressed individually, while others benefit from couple therapy.

We will determine the most appropriate format based on your circumstances.

If couples work would be unsafe or clinically inappropriate because of abuse, coercion, or another serious concern, I will recommend another approach.

What if There May Be a Medical Cause?

Sexual health is both psychological and physical.

When symptoms suggest that medical factors may be contributing, I may recommend consultation with your physician, pelvic-floor specialist, gynecologist, urologist, or another qualified healthcare provider as part of a coordinated treatment approach.

You Do Not Have to Keep Struggling in Silence

Sexual concerns can be difficult to discuss — even with the person you love most.

But silence does not have to become the permanent story of your sexuality or your marriage.

There can be a healthier conversation.

There can be greater understanding.

And there can be a path forward.
